Last Friday, like much of North America, we celebrated Halloween in our department. It is, after all, an astronomical holiday. (Well, technically, All Saint's Day, or All Hallows Day on November 1st is the holiday, and Halloween, All Hallow's Eve, is the anticipatory evening.)
Mrs. Astronomy expressed regret that our costumes were not as original as, and, in some cases, were identical to, last year's collection. My (utterly made up) response is: tough economic times call for paring back. And, may I point out, her costume was the same as for the past several years: a pair of Groucho Marx glasses.
the ghostbusters are nice. but i think my favorite is still randy with the tetris game last year!
